Snowy Roof Rescue

A rare break in the winter storms had arrived, leaving the homestead basking in sunlight. The snow sparkled like a sea of diamonds, but the beauty came with a burden. Both the barn and the cabin groaned under the weight of accumulated snow, icicles clinging stubbornly to the eaves.
“It’s a beautiful day, but if we don’t clear this snow, the roofs might cave in,” Badger said, tightening the scarf around his neck.
Yote, already climbing a wooden ladder leaned against the barn, called down, “Let’s start with the barn. It’s taller, and if it goes, we’ll lose the hay and the tools.”
Badger nodded, grabbing his trusty snow shovel. “I’ll take the cabin once we’re done here. Work smarter, not harder.”
The two friends worked in harmony, their shovels sending arcs of snow cascading to the ground below. Yote, ever the daredevil, balanced precariously on the barn’s peak, grinning at Badger’s disapproving glare.
“Careful up there! I don’t want to dig you out next,” Badger called out.
“Oh, don’t worry about me,” Yote replied, his tone playful. “I’ve got the balance of a fox and the heart of a lion.”
Together, they shoveled tirelessly, pausing only to sip from steaming thermoses of spiced tea. The snow piled high around the barn and cabin, but the roofs slowly emerged, relieved of their heavy burden.
As the sun began to dip low, casting long shadows across the snowy fields, Yote leaned on his shovel and grinned. “Got time for a riddle while we catch our breath?”
Badger chuckled. “Always.”
“If you throw me from the window,
I will leave a grieving wife.
Bring me back, but in the door, and
You’ll see someone giving life!
What am I?”
The answer: The letter 'n'.
