Puzzling pumpkin predicament

The homestead was filled with the gentle glow of candlelight, shadows dancing across the room as Badger and Yote sat on low stools, carving pumpkins. The warm crackle of the woodstove filled the space with the scent of autumn as they carefully worked on their jack-o'-lanterns.
Yote looked at Badger, grinning. “You know, carving these pumpkins has me thinking of a brain teaser. It goes something like this.” he said.
“You measure my life in hours, I serve by expiring. I’m quick when thin, slow when fat. And the wind—well, that’s my enemy.”
Badger paused, the tip of his carving knife hovering over the pumpkin. “Hmmm. That’s a tricky one.”
Can you help Badger solve this riddle?
The answer:
A candle. Its life is measured by how it burns, and it’s most vulnerable to the wind.
🧠 This riddle is a reminder of how fleeting and precious moments can be. Even small things, like a warm glow of a woodstove or a freshly carved pumpkin, make life a little brighter and more enjoyable.
