Mine mystery

Far up in the North Cascades, hidden deep in the mountains, lay an old, abandoned gold mine that had long been forgotten. Only the bravest—or the most curious—dared venture inside. Today, it was Badger and Yote’s turn.

With lanterns in hand, the two friends cautiously stepped into the mine. The wooden beams creaked overhead, and dust filled the air with every footstep. “I’ve heard stories about this place,” Yote said. “They say miners used to leave clues behind to test those who entered.”

Badger smiled. “Sounds like our kind of challenge. What do you think we’ll find?”

After navigating through narrow passages, they stumbled upon an old chest, half-buried beneath rocks. Carved into the lid was a riddle:

“I have towns but no houses,
I have mountains but no trees.
I have water but no fish.
What am I?”

Yote scratched his head. “Looks like we’ve got another mystery on our hands.”

Badger knelt down beside the chest, brushing off the dust. “I think we can solve this. But it’s a tough one. Let’s see if we can crack the code.”

Can you help Badger and Yote solve the riddle they’ve found deep in the old gold mine? What has towns, mountains, and water—but no houses, trees, or fish?
