Lakeside lure

On a warm afternoon, Badger and Yote found themselves floating in their small rowboat on the calm waters of Get Lost Lake, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Okanogan Highlands. The mountain air was cool, and the only sound was the soft lapping of water against the boat.
Badger had his line cast far out, hoping to catch one of the legendary trout that were said to live in the depths of the lake. Yote sat across from him, casually holding his rod, but as usual, his mind was elsewhere.
“Y’know, this lake is peaceful, but I’ve got something on my mind,” Yote said.
Badger smiled without looking up from the water. “Let me guess, it’s a riddle?”
Yote nodded. “You know me too well. Here it goes:”
“The more you take, the more you leave behind. What am I?”
Badger reeled his line in slightly, his brow furrowed in thought. “That’s a good one,” he admitted, glancing over at Yote. “But I think I’ll figure it out before you catch that trout.”
Yote chuckled. “We’ll see about that. But maybe our friends can help us solve it first.”
Can you help Badger and Yote solve this riddle as they fish at Get Lost Lake? What is something that the more you take, the more you leave behind?
