Crystal Cave Conundrum

The sun had barely risen above the dense forest as Badger and Yote trudged through the undergrowth, their boots crunching the frosty leaves. A light mist curled around the bases of the tall pines, and the air was crisp with the promise of adventure. They were following a map Yote had found tucked into an old, leather-bound book titled Tales of the Hidden Realm. The map promised an “enchanted cave” deep in the woods, and the two couldn’t resist the lure of discovery.
“I’m telling you,” Yote said, holding the map and squinting at the winding lines, “this cave is going to be full of treasure—gold coins, maybe even an ancient crown.”
“Or it’s just a damp hole in the ground,” Badger replied with a smirk. “But at least the hike is good exercise.”
After hours of navigating the trails and crossing icy streams, they found themselves standing in front of a rock face with an arched opening. Crystals of various colors glinted faintly inside, catching what little light penetrated the forest canopy.
“This has to be it!” Yote exclaimed, his tail wagging. “Let’s go in.”
Inside the cave, the walls shimmered with blue, green, and purple crystals, casting soft, colorful light across the floor. Badger and Yote walked further in, marveling at the beauty. In the center of the cavern was a stone pedestal with an inscription etched onto it.
“It says,” Badger read aloud, “‘Arrange the crystals in proper order to unveil what you seek.’”
“Sounds like a puzzle to me,” Yote said, rubbing his hands together. “Let’s do this.”
On the pedestal were slots for seven crystals of different colors: red, blue, green, yellow, purple, white, and orange. A small plaque beside the pedestal offered the following clues:
The red crystal is not adjacent to the blue crystal.
The yellow crystal is third.
The green crystal must come before the red crystal but after the purple crystal.
The orange crystal is placed directly next to the white crystal.
The purple crystal is first.
“Alright,” Yote said, his eyes lighting up with excitement. “Let’s crack this.”
Badger nodded, scratching his chin as he studied the clues. “This will take some careful thinking.”
Can you determine the correct order of the crystals?
The answer: The correct order of the crystals is:
Purple
Green
Yellow
Red
Blue
Orange
White
